Fun Family Session

Had a great session with the G. family late Wednesday afternoon.  What a pleasure to get to know them better!   We went to a beautiful spot called Lake Woodruff that I had never been before.

Here's the little slideshow below of the finished portraits. I hope they're pleased! I had so much fun!

Since we were only able to meet up in the late afternoon and would have limited time before the sun set due to daylight savings time, I thought it would be a great time to practice the silhouette shot that I had been reading up on. For my first time, I was pleased for the most part at how it turned out and look forward to improving on the technique in the future.

Until next time,

Simply Amazing!

Two words to describe my first birth photography experience!  It really was my ultimate favorite of all sessions that I've ever done since I started seriously persuing family photography over 4 years ago! I think I might be hooked. I'd definitely do it again in the future! To Jennifer and Falco, thanks for allowing me to capture this most intimate part of your life. I hope I will have recorded moments you will treasure and leave you with feelings of great joy whenever you look at the pictures! ♥

It was so awesome!! The Lord worked it all out!! I was staying up waiting to send my husband off to work when I saw her post shortly after 1am or so. She felt like it would be very soon, so since my husband was still here, I woke him up an hour early and he took us to their house. We even beat the midwife there!! Thankfully our children went back to sleep in the beds that they had waiting for them on our arrival! The following are of the birth and then little Sophia at 12 days old!

It was a great birth that took place at home. Jennifer was beautiful and just seemed to glow. she was so peaceful and just so serene...on the outside anyway. I think she was amazing!! At 5:31am she told me quickly that it was time for me to exit so she could start pushing, I ran to the clock in the living room to take a pic, thinking she'd be pushing a while, and not 60 seconds later, I heard the gush of water hit the floor and the baby crying at 5:32am!!! Awesome! awesome! awesome!  I was so pleased!! Amazingly, the midwife is also a photographer! http://www.karenbove.com/ and she gave me some great adjustments to make to my camera settings!

...and 12 days later!  I truly have a greater appreciation for newborn photographers! Had fun during our newborn session, but Miss Sophia was wide awake and very alert just about the whole time! I did manage to get a few with her dozing off, but she wasn't in a deep enough sleep to be able to do any planned poses.  Sure is a sweetheart!

I was able use some of my props I'd been collecting and was especially pleased with the look of the headbands with the flowers I had gotten at a craft fair a few weeks ago from http://www.petalbowtique.com/. If you have little girls, or are looking for a great gift idea for little girls, please check her product line out!

I was excited to finally try out this great little valise I picked up last year!

Would love some feedback on what you think!

My First Full-Term Maternity session!

I just finished editing my first full term maternity session done this earlier this week. Can't wait to capture the birth story coming up any day now! Those intimate moments between her and her husband: wiping her brow, encouraging her, brushing the hairs off of her face, and for the rest of the siblings: from the wonder of a new sister, the sweetness of a peaceful sleeping baby to the delight of the introductions. I can't wait for my phone to ring very soon, perhaps this weekend!

The following is part 1 of 3 sessions(Maternity/Birth/Family). Because the oldest son was not able to be a part of session 1, when we do the family portraits after the baby is here, I will redo them with him at that time, so just count this family portrait as practice ; ) ♥

Although I wish this picture had been slightly sharper, I love the fact that it shows how a smile is not always necessary for a beautiful portrait. In my opinion, a beautiful portrait is one that draws you in.

Like my own 2 year old, this little one was the hardest to keep still, and had some wild hair to go along with that mischievous grin on her face. So adorable!! She picked the boots to wear all by herself!

Here is my favorite from the whole shoot!

To Falco, Jennifer and family, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your moments!!!

To see more from this particular session, please visit my page on facebook ! I'd especially be honored if you decided to 'like' me and/or left feedback for me.

I hope that those of you who've followed my venture over the past few years, as well as those who've been a part of it, have seen an improvement in my portfolio. Although I still have much to learn, an understatement for sure, I so enjoy the privilege to improve my skills. I love the adrenaline rush it gives me, and I love all those of you who've had part in giving me the opportunity to put what I am learning, into practice!!

Please be aware that any of your verbal or written support means more than you know!

Been Busy Busy Busy!

Well, I've not been blogging lately, but I've been practicing more with manual mode. I met the kindest couple a two weeks ago and they both had Nikons, so I had to meet them of course!! What a blessing they turned out to be!! I got teary eyed right there in the parking lot!! They were able to help me with something I had just not been getting! They gave me their card before we parted ways and guess what their last names are...'Miracle'! I thought that was great!! Made my whole day and I've benefitted from their help ever since!!

Well, like I said, I've been busy busy busy editing and sorting through the over 800 photos I took at the wedding, and finally got them done! Thank you to my husband for the many nights sleeping in the baby's room in order to get me some quiet editing time.

Here's a highlights slideshow from the wedding. I hope they are pleased for the most part with them. ♥

As you know, I'm still learning, so I would sure appreciate any feedback given.

Another Glimpse...

This one is currently in the running for one of my absolute favorites. Love the feeling of this one, don't you?

The following shot wasn't quite sharp enough, but I still really liked it, so I attempted to texturize it...may try and tweek it again, to get it just right. What do you think?

Fun to twirl in such a gown, fit for a princess on her special day!

Off to check out their 'honeymoon "sweet"'...

...when the groom quickly swept her off her feet!
